Racism thrives in silence. Every report is a step towards justice and accountability.

Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.

Modern racism is not an isolated incident.

It is the legacy of centuries of violence, colonisation, and oppression, shaping the world we navigate today.

About the
Racism Register

Racism silences voices and perpetuates inequality. The Racism Register, launched in 2025, breaks this silence by providing a platform to document and report racism to drive change. Started in Australia by two migrant, anti-racist trainers and mothers, this initiative uses data to amplify stories, drive accountability and challenge systemic discrimination.

FAQs

General Questions

1. What is the Racism Register?
The Racism Register is Australia’s first national racism reporting platform. It allows individuals to safely and anonymously report racism, helping to track patterns, support legal action and drive policy change.

2. Why should I report racism?
By reporting racism, you contribute to building data that exposes systemic discrimination. Your report helps hold individuals and institutions accountable, informs advocacy efforts and connects you to legal support and justice pathways.

3. Is my report confidential?
Yes. Reports can be anonymous or public, depending on your preference. We prioritise privacy and data security, and we do not track IP addresses.

Reporting and Process Questions

4. How do I report an incident?
Simply click “Report an Incident”, fill out the form with details of your experience, and submit. You can choose to remain anonymous or provide contact details for follow-up support.

5. What happens after I submit a report?
Your report will be stored in our secure database and used to identify trends and inform advocacy.

6. Can I edit or delete my report after submitting it?
For security reasons, reports cannot be edited after submission. However, you can email us to request deletion or updates.

7. Can I report racism if it didn’t happen to me?
Yes! If you witness racism happening to someone else, you can still report it. Having multiple perspectives on incidents strengthens our database and supports advocacy.

Legal and Support Services

8. Does the Racism Register offer legal support?

We don’t provide direct legal support, but we partner with free legal services like RacialJustice.au, who can help if you want to take further action.

9. Can my report be used as legal evidence?

If you choose to share your report with RacialJustice.au or state police, they may use the information to support legal claims or formal complaints.

10. Will my report automatically go to the police?

No. We do not automatically send reports to the police. You will have the option to self-report to your state’s police hate crime unit through direct links on our site in the near future when we add this feature.

Data and Privacy Questions

11. How is my data stored and protected?
All reports are stored securely with end-to-end encryption. We do not track IP addresses, and we comply with privacy laws to ensure your data is protected.

12. Will my report be made public?
No, unless you choose to share your story publicly. By default, reports remain private and confidential.

13. Can I see reports submitted by others?
